It's a rainy weekend morning, it's cold, and it's dark out until close to 8 am, and you know it's going to be another night in. In fact, you might even spend the entire day inside, it's not like there's a huge incentive to going outside, not when everything can just be brought to you.
Sure, you could get some fresh air and exercise, buuuuuut you could also just open a window when doing your Zoom yoga or riding your stationary bike while watching tropical vacation videos.
So that's it, you've decided on staying inside, but since you weren't planning on it (just kidding, who goes out? Where would one go?) you need some BC beverages.
We've put together this collection so that you can try some new drinks without having to go to the effort of masking up and waiting in line, socially distanced, in the rain for your turn in the liquor store.
Provincial Spirits Haskap, Grape, Botanicals & Vodka
We originally picked up this ready-to-drink cocktail for its fun bottle, colour & packaging, but we chose it for you because of how good it tastes. A twist on the spritzer cocktail made with local Haskap from Wolf Springs Farm in Sorrento, B.C. Haskap has a unique tangy sweet flavour which is naturally delicious. Pour over ice.
Meadow Vista Honey Farm Bliss Cherry Cyzer 500 ml
Cherry, red fruits and honey combine in an off-dry lightly sparkling 'cyzer' with a long honeyed finish. Pour over ice, or add ice, soda water and a squeeze of lime.
Four Winds Brewing Operis Red-wine barrel aged Saison 4 x 330 ml
A really interesting beer, saison, with added brettanomyces for some funk, and then aged in red-wine barrels from the Okanagan. The resulting beer combines fruity malt with floral Belgian yeast funkiness, and a soft mouthfeel.
Windfall Cider Company Rose Coloured Glasses 750 ml
Optimism is a tonic, pessimism is a poison. We all could use a little rose coloured glasses in our lives right now. Made from 100% BC apples and blended generously with Saskatoon berries, this seriously dry cider is ready to drink. Rich in colour with a medium body and notes of almond and honey notes in the palate- great with bbq salmon or grilled meats.
Winemaker's CUT Gruner Veltliner
Apple, citrus, marzipan, almond and white peach with a dusting of honey & pepper, not to be served too chilled. A very interesting, dry sipping wine with a fleshy palate and lingering finish,
Haywire Wines Gamay Noir
Juicy black fruits with a spicy, savoury side and an attractive herbal note. Great structure makes this medium-bodied red a versatile wine, and stops you from pouring it directly down your throat like is so easy to do with Gamay.
